Coakers Walk, Kodaikanal Overview : 

Coakers Walk  Kodaikanal, is in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, India,Coaker’s Walk is One of the popular tourist spots in Kodaikanal,  Coakers Walk is a man made one kilometre long walking plaza built on the mountains in the mesmerizing city of Kodaikanal.The lovely path of Coakers Walk that curves by the edge of the gorgeous mountain have been constructed mainly for morning and evening walks and get a glimpse of the sunsets or sunrises. 

One can enter the Coaker’s Walk and have panoramic views of the valley between 7 am to 7pm. The overlooking view is surrounded by hills, plateaus and rivers. The Coakers Walk walk begins near Van Allen Hospital and joins the main road above St. Peter's Church. The pathway is fenced by the edge of the mountain for the safety of visitors. 

One can also choose to ride a bicycle to explore the scenic location. . It costs INR 30 per hour for adults and INR 20 per hour for children. The sight is breathtakingly beautiful, and it almost makes one feel like they are walking in the clouds. 

You can have the opportunity to have clear view of the Dolphin's nose which is located in the south, valley of the Pambar River in South East. You also get a distant view of the Periyakulam along with a view of Madurai city. However, if you happen to visit on a cloudy day, you might not get a clear picture of these.The place is a hotspot for activities like cycling, photography and nature walks. 

 A telescope is also installed at the entry gate of Coaker’s Walk pathway so that the visitors can enjoy an enchanting view Kodaikanal hill station, 

Coakers Walk History :    Coakers Walk was constructed in 1872, by Lieutenant Coaker.whom it has been named, Coaker’s Walk is a narrow pedestrian path which is approximately one km in length. This mountain road is just half kilometre away from the Kodaikanal Lake. Running along the slope edges on the southern of the Kodai Road,

Coakers Walk Best Time To Visit :  The best time to visit Coaker’s Walk is during summers, from March to June, when the temperature is pleasant, and hills are only partly cloudy,

Coaker’s Walk is during monsoon (July – September): Monsoons in Kodaikanal receive unpredictable and heavy showers which make sightseeing difficult. Furthermore, since Coaker’s Walk is a long stretch of open space, it may be difficult to wander around.

Coaker’s Walk is during winters (December – February): The temperature during winters stays around 8 to 15 degrees Celsius, which is pleasant for sightseeing. The days may be cloudier and less sunny, which means the chilly weather throughout the day requires you to carry warm clothes.

The distance between Coaker’s Walk and Kodaikanal Bus Stand is 0.8 km and would take at most 10 minutes to cover. the best way to commute to Coaker’s Walk from the Kodaikanal Bus Stand  is via a rental cab, or auto-rickshaws
