Vydehi falls is located at a distance of 23 Kms from Perur. The nearest village is Narasipuram  35 km away from the Coimbatore city, Tamil Nadu. it is one of the most familiar water fall and is highly known for its magnificence.

 

The falls has pulled towards itself a large number of visitors because of its scenic attraction and beauty. The distance from the closest road point to the falls is around 5 km via a woodland trail. To travel to the forest trek location from Narasipuram town .

 

Vydehi falls is very beautiful and has a naturally formed slope. It is located inside the forest and one must obtain permission before entering the forest. Visitors are only allowed by being escorted by a forest guard into the forest. As you get closer, your ears open up to the gentle gurgle of water which slowly transforms to the sound of gushing water.

 

This waterfall used to be called "Tholayira Murthi Kandi", in Tamil Tholayiram stands for the number nine hundred, word Murthy has several interpretations, one is The Lord, another means Manifestation. Kandi is the word for (water)fall.

 

The waterfall derives the present name after the Vijayakaanth movie "Vaidhehi Kathirunthal" by director R. Sundarrajan. The location is now a popular tourist spot in the City of Coimbatore. It is not well connected to transport facilities. Now a days visitors are not allowed in order to protect wildlife which is abundant in that area.

 

This area of forest has lot of animal movements; especially elephants. There are lot of incidents of elephants attacking humans, You can hear birds chirping as you walk through the woodland. Many therapeutic plants and herbs can be found in the forest.

 

This waterfall in Coimbatore comes under the jurisdiction of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, and you need a permit to enter the place. You can contact the forest officer it is always advisable to obtain permission and get some guards accompanying while entering the forest.
