Yercaud is a hill station in Salem, district
of Tamil Nadu, South India.At a height of 4,970 feet on the Shevaroy Hills of
the Eastern Ghats. Also called the “Jewel of the South”,Yercaud is Popular
called as the “Poor man’s Ooty”.
Anna Park is located at a
distance of 1 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Near to Yercaud Big Lake. Anna Park is
Maintained by the Horticulture department, by the Government.
Anna Park combines of four small parks known
as Lake Park, Deer Park, Gandhi Park and Children's Park. park houses a wide
collection of natural plants and trees around Shevaroy hills. Inside the Anna
Park, there is also one Japanese park, in which plants are grown in Japanese
style.
The park also has a wonderful Horticulture
Farm with a Rose Garden. The Rose Garden has various varieties of roses.Flower
shows are conducted in this park during summer months.
There is also one nursery in the park, where
yellow, orange and red flowering plants, growing only in the hill region are
available. Visitors can buy a variety of plants from here.
In Anna Park One part of the park is seen
decorated with red grass which looks like a spectacular red colored carpet.The
fountain in the park center splashes nicely enabling visitors to enjoy the
thrill of sprinkling water.
The park is specially designed with slides in
such a way to make children enjoy They can play by riding see-saws and also
indulge in various activities of their own interests.
It is a non holiday park for visitors.Best
time to visit this park is during the summer months, especially in month of
May, when annual Flower Show is held here.
