Poombarai, a village  is situated In Kodaikanal hill town at distance of 20 km from  Kodaikanal lake, Palani hill range in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, South India.Poombarai village  is  picturesque in Kodai hills that has stunning terraced landscapes enveloped by green mountains and valleys.

Kuzhanthai Velappar Temple  : 

The Kuzhanthai Velappar Temple  epicentre of this historic  village original temple was built by the Chera dynasty and is dedicated to Lord Muruga. . . The temple is believed to have been consecrated by Bhogar, more than 3000 years ago. 

Bhogar was a Tamil Siddhar who lived between 550 and 300 BC. This temple comes under Pazhani Devasthanam. Every year Poombarai celebrates the Ther Thiruvizha procession for Lord Muruga. 

It falls on Kettai nakshatra which comes after Thaipoosam, normally in Thai or Maasi month.The temple celebrates ‘Ther Thiruvizha’ every year where the deity is taken out in a procession.
