Mannavanur Lake It is situated In Mannavanur village, which is around 34 km away from  Kodaikanal hill town Palani hill range in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, South India.

Boating (Coracle/Parisal) :

The entry fee for Mannavanur Lake Boating cost is INR 30. It was 20 mins journey. Aww! It was such a nice experience for the first time doing Parisal boating .The Forest department offers coracle rides with a nominal charge. One can also visit sheep farms. Horse riding is also a popular activity to do here.

Movie shooting spot :

We heard that Tamil movie I (Vikram), Perenabu (Mammuti) movie house they all shot in that place.

Mannavanur is a tranquill village, 35 Km from Kodaikanal city Trekking routes are passing through this place. Terrace farming in slopes gives amazing views.a tranquil village, pass through different trekking routes is Mannavanur.

It takes an hour's drive to reach Kavunji.From Kavunji take a footpath leading to Mannavanur. From there, an old footpath leads Near Kukkal you see the caves where ancient men were living. Many animals are seen here, among them, Deer, Rabbit, and sheep are common.

Enroute  the meadows of sheep farm is pleasant.Tourists are required to get permission from the Forest Department to trek in the forest areas.

Mannavanur Sheep Farming :

Mannavanur sheep farm is a regional center of the Central Sheep & Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), A premier Institution of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (I.C.A.R), New Delhi. The SRRC was founded on 16 November 1965 and has been active for over 45 years at Mannavanur.

This centre is the animal science research centre under ICAR for both Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The centre breeds sheep and rabbits for wool and meat, including Angora, Chinchilla, White Giant and others.

Visitors to the Sheep Research Center should first see the officer-in-charge at the main office building. Educational institutions can get permission from the officer-in-charge to camp overnight.
