Bryant Park, Kodaikanal Overview :

Bryant Park Kodaikanal , a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu in the Palani Hills One of the most popular ones is Bryant Park. Situated on the eastern side of Kodaikanal Lake, Bryant Park is a botanical park and a blessing on the hill station for those interested in botany.

Occupying an area of 20.5 acres, this lovely park boats of more than 325 species of trees, cacti, and shrubs. When its flowers are in full blossom, the park seems to be a rainbow. A large section is dedicated to nearly 740 varieties of roses.

Bryant Park, Kodaikanal History : Bryant Park was planned and built-in 1908 by a forest officer from Madurai, H.D.Bryant, and named after him.This is a vibrant public garden that houses a vast variety of the colorful flowers and other herbs. In the region of Kodaikanal, this garden resembles a rainbow due to the presence of the flowers. 

170+ Years Old Eucalyptus tree :

A eucalyptus tree that dates back to India's First War of Independence in 1857 resides in the park.A 157-year old Eucalyptus tree is one of the park's main attractions. Don’t miss to see the tree, the eucalyptus tree, used for developing the balm(தைலம்).

Bryant Park Bodhi Tree : Bryant Park is also home to an age-old Bodhi tree which draws in religiously inclined locals to the park. The Master of Buddha who is well-known as Gowthama Buddha repented under the species of this Bodhi tree. People believe that he got enlightenment after repentance under this tree. So, coming to the point, if you sit and relax under this tree for a minute, you’ll feel more real. That’s the speciality of this tree,

Bryant Park Glass House : Glasshouse holds a large number of potted plants. The first thing to visit here is the glasshouse. Most of the people who visit the park will go prefer to spend quality time in the glasshouse. Together with this, the park has maintained very neatly inside the glasshouse. On the contrary, you’re not allowed to take photos inside the glasshouse.The sun rises from the direction of the lake and set right across the park making the attraction a great spot to witness the movements of the sun.



Bryant Park Horticultural Show : Every year in May, Bryant Park hosts a Horticultural Show. The main aim of the show is to make tourists and visitors aware of the various types of plants, vegetables and shrubs; what their basic requirements are to survive and how they can be maintained.

The Deputy Director of Horticulture comes up with a list of exotic plants and shrubs that will be displayed in the upcoming show In preparation for the show, the temperatures are closely monitored, the staff is assigned to particular plants and shrubs depending on their complexity and sections of the park are dedicated to specific plant families. This show is one of the most sought after events in the Horticulture society and amongst nature enthusiasts.

The Bryant Park also serves as a practical centre for education on Ornamental Horticulture and as a demonstration centre. Here the students of Horticulture are taught different methods of training, pruning, budding, grafting, potting seed collection and many others. On the other hand, ornamental plants for sale will make people excited to buy plants at an affordable price. On the seasonal time, the park will be a little crowded than usual days.

There is a children's play area within the park. The park has also got a small lake filled with water plants. The park is very well maintained and attracts a large crowd during the evening time.As the park is massive than you expected, you can peacefully spend at least 2 – 3 hours here on any day.

Bryant Park is a famous place that can be visited throughout the year. The entry to this park is paid and that depends on the nationality of the visitor.

Try to visit the park during the month of May, there’s a flower show which takes place during this time.

The winter months (November to February) get chilly. The temperature falls sharply cold, it will make up for a great vacation.

During the months of March to May, the temperature is a little higher with occasional rainfall. Sight-seeing is best during this time of the year.

The monsoon witness’s heavy rainfall and most tourists try avoiding this time. If you are looking to spend some quiet time, rainy season is the best. The atmosphere is wonderful with fresh air and greenery all around.
