Ramar Temple is located in Ram
nagar near to the central bus stand in Gandhipuram,Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu,
India.
Ramar Temple, dedicated to Lord Ram, is the only temple
where the idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita are seen facing each other
depicting their love and admiration for each other.
Ramar Temple was build in the year 1933,A 53-ft tall
five-tier Rajagopuram was constructed and scenes from Ramayana have been
sculpted in the gopuram. 45th Azhagiyasingar of Ahobila Mutt had done
mangalaasasanam at this temple
The idols of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Rama's brother -
Lakshmana. The Ramar Temple also houses a box full of papers that have
thirteen-crore Rama Namas written on them.
Idols and sculptures of other deities like Lord Ganesha,
Yoga Rama, Krishna, Aiyappa, and Lord Shiva are also found. Inside the complex,
a temple dedicated to the Navagrahas has also been built.
The doors of the temple are covered with sheets of silver
that have carvings of Maha Lakshmi in all her eight avatars.
The temple is extremely divine and peaceful - one is
bound to feel their nerves soothe in no time. Devotees often claim to have been
blessed by the deity and all their wishes have come true after offering prayers
in this temple.
The temple often sees newlyweds visit the shrine in hopes
to live a happy and fulfilling married life. In fact, some even believe in
organising the traditional meeting of the bride and the bride groom for the
first time in the Ramar Temple as they would be blessed by Rama and Sita before
they take the next steps into their married life.
Daily events as upanyasam and other poojas will take
place in the temple during evening times.The temple is completely dedicated to
the lord Rama and quite number of Rama disciples makes their visit to the
temple.
People will follow the mantras, while the time of their
worship and the devotees will sound out “Hare Rama” mantras and thereby feel
the real sense of divinity.
“Rama Navami”. The festival is celebrated during the
Tamil calendar month of “Chithirai” (between April and May).
