Baralikadu is a small tribal village which is situated
near Pillur village of Karamadai Range
in Coimbatore,Tamilnadu,India. Baralikadu village is mainly dominated by Irula
tribes,with the support of the Forest Dept.
Baralikadu is situated on the banks of Athikadavu river, on the foothills of the scenic Western Ghats. Baralikadu is an unexplored spot which inspires nature lovers. There is an ecotourism centre operated by Coimbatore Forest Division.
The tourism centre is opened to visitors only on Saturdays and Sundays. The way is a hilly terrain enriched with green vegetation with a pleasant climate providing many view points to have a awe for these scenes.
Baralikkadau eco tourism is a really fantastic option for a one day tour for all who love eco tourism and nice option for have a one day outing.Well maintained by forest department,
The Forest Department along with the local tribes
conducts campaigns where you can enjoy the Parisal rides, Swim, Eat Tribal food
etc. To book your trip, you have to contact the Forest Department.
Coracle Ride in Pillur Dam : There are 10 coracles provided with cushion
seating. The ride covers a distance of 5 km on the cool water with mountains
and forest on either side gives us a rare sight.
You can also stop by the banks to have a walk into the
jungle as you like.
Baralikadu lunch : A beautiful lunch by the tribal women self help group along with welcome
drink, Chappathi,Variety Rice, Raagi ball with fish curry, Curd Rice, Fruits
and Sweets, Vegetable salad, Mineral Water,
the dishes can be changed during the booking process.
Baralikadu Trekking : Walking into the bushes and marshes, along some seasonal streams, enjoying
fresh air really energizing us, inhaling the smell of the flowers and so on.
Baralikadu Athikadavu River Bath
: A nice bath in the running water with the pleasant
breeze giving a cooling effect and a great relief. We may get little tired and
sweat and is in need of a bath.
Since this is a package day trip, you have to reach the
place before 10 am. This is an eco-tourism spot which means, no plastics, no
cigarettes, and no alcohol.
If you are interested to stay overnight at Baralikadu, there are three small sheds that can accommodate 8 people in a shed. The charge will be Rs.1500 per person, To book you should call the forest officer in advance.
