Velamalai Tunnel is in hill station located in the Coimbatore district of Tamilnadu, India. It is located roughly 3500ft above sea level on the Anaimalai hills range of the western ghats consists Anaimalai tiger reserve. 

Velamalai Tunnel was located in Vellamalai estate . Tunnel is about 3.8 kilometers away from Valparai Town . By the route from Valparai via Sirukendra estate via Kanchamalai Estate, you can reach Vellamalai estate. 

Vellamalai estate belong to the Peria Karamalai Tea estate limited esates owned by PKT Group. While coming to Vellamalai estate you can view tea estates land area fully covered with Tea Plantation. 

You can view small rivers the front view of the tunnel. You can only watch lot of water coming out of tunnel in the month of June to July.  

The main source of water is coming from Chinnakallar when overflow occurs on rainy season.The water flow will be over at that time. Then due to overflow they will open the water through chinnakallar and its comes via tunnel. 

In rainy season, water from the side by tea plantation will be look like small falls and some times flow of water will cover the whole area. You should definitely come here during sunset to watch the sun rays descend over the waters.
