Yelagiri formally Known as Vellore Yelagiri (also spelled Elagiri at times) is a hill station in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, India, situated off the Vaniyambadi-Tirupattur road. Located at an altitude of 1,110.6 metres above Mean Sea Level and spread across 30 km, the Yelagiri village .

from Athanavur Bus Stop, Punganoor Lake is a man-made lake located in the
center of the Yelagiri Hills.
Punganoor Lake is one of the most famous artificial man
made lakes in Tamil Nadu, and among the popular tourist places in Yelagiri
Hills.
Punganoor Lake covers nearly 60 sq. m of land.There is a
garden named the 'Mughal Garden' right next to the lake.There is a fountain and
a children’s park installed in the garden.
There's a walking track around the lake circumference,a
small tree top viewpoint, and few shops.
There is also an open space where different species of
birds that come for their feed can be found. Thus, the place is truly for the
nature lover.
Boating facilities are available.The boat club here
offers pedal and motorboat rides.The waters of the lake are calm and serene.The
lake and the boating facility are maintained by the Yelagiri Hill development
and Tourism Promotion Society.
