Kotagiri or Kothagiri is a taluk and a Panchayat town in The Nilgiris District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the third largest hill station in the Nilgiri hills.Kotagiri is located at average elevation of 1,847 m (6,060 ft). 

Elk Falls  Or Uyilatty Falls is situated about 7km from Kotagiri near Uyilathi Village on the main route to Mettupalayam. Elk Falls is one of the top waterfalls in the Nilgiris waterfall comes in full gush only in the rainy season it is worth visiting this place to get the view of the Echoing Valley of Kookal.

 

There is also a European house near the spot European house or Kannerimukku, constructed by British collector Sullivan is located near the falls. 

This house was built during the colonial times of the British in India, in the year 1819 and was the first British residence in Tamil Nadu. At present, it can even be considered as a historical ancient monument! 

Nearby there is a valley known as the Kookal Valley blooms with mellow orange which said to be one of the yummy oranges in the world.
