Yercaud is a hill station in Salem, district of Tamil Nadu, South India.Yercaud is Popular called as the “Poor man’s Ooty”. Yercaud is one of the low cost hill station destination in India.Yercaud hill station is at an altitude of 1515 metres (4969 feet) above the see level.
Yercaud Lake is Popularly known Emerald Lake or Big Lake the lake at Yercaud is the only naturally formed lake across all the hill stations in Tamil Nadu.this lake is the only natural lake among all the hill station lakes in South India and also one of the top Yercaud .
Yercaud Lake is a wonderful site and looks stunning with a beautiful garden along its banks and the high hills enclosing it from all sides There is a floating fountain in the lake is an additional attraction. Boating in the cold waters of the lake is a most pleasant experience. In the centre of the lake is an island that is covered by an over bridge to the mainland.
Boating Facilities At The Lake One can avail of the boating facilities available at the lake. Boats come in two options rowboat and motorboat facilities are available.The Yercaud Lake is home to a couple of deer and peacocks.It will be closed by 5 pm.
