Thandhi (Thanthi) Mariamman temple Is hindu Temple of God Shakthi (Amman Temple) is located in coonoor town in Nilgiris Hills near ooty hill Station of tamilnadu India ,It is a beautiful temple surrounded by enchanting sceneries. This Amman temple is famous among the locals. Many devotees from the locals,tourist and nearby village visit this temple often.
Legends :
This place was founded and develop by Britishers During the era of Independence This place was called coonoor meaning of small place at that time this place was a thick dense forest like a jungle.
They cleaned the thrones and dense forest and made this place as their mediating spot , then the people built the temple here , the british people installed a Thandhi (Thanthi) Kambam - telegraph postal stand in fron of it and this is a land mark there after the goddess become to known as Thandhi (Thanthi) Mariamman and this name is came to stay stil , Even till today that telegraph post ,Thandhi (Thanthi) kambam exists .
During the every day puja times in the temple the camphor arti is shown to this post also ,it is the belief of the devotees and the people of coonoor After developing this place the british established stables house to horses and sheds to keep their coaches called Sarat Vandi.
They also appointed three watchmen to guard the place near by . on one night while the watchmen were guarding one of them heard a voice it was a child he hurriedly went and watched closely in fair colour,The little girl was wearing silk clothes and glittering jewels and has a charismatic look.
In Next day the watchman said the magical thing happened yesterday night to the local people,but people have a disbeleif they think it was a dream are it was a story.The people wanted to confirm it to see whether the watchman said was may be true so they all plan to hid around the temple and they founded the watchman said was true.
To their surprise the the magical was happen and all transfixed by her looks and grace later amman appeared in the dream one of a devotee and told him that she was here as a Swayambhu (natural),The next morning they dug the ground the was happy to find Amman Then a temple for the Goddess came into being the started praying .

The Thandi (Thanthi) Mariamman is the Swayambu moorthy (not man made ) Still which the neem tree were the Amman used to Swing (Oonjal ) still exists in the place ,During the puja to the Amman the Camphor (karpoora )Aaradhana is shown to this telegraph post (Thandhi kambam) also here .
Though the temple is small it's a quite lovely place surrounded by lush greeneries, women wishing chilld boon and getting married ,most of them are visit this temple every Tuesdays and Fridays and light lemon lamp to the goddess.
There are other shrines also like Lord Muruga, Kathayi Amman, Karumariamman, Kamakshi Amman, Vana badrakali, Vana Durga in the corridor-prakaram.

April- May for days, Aadi month (july
-August ) every fridays,
Navarathri during September-October,

January 14,special pujas are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
