Yelagiri formally Known as Vellore Yelagiri (also spelled Elagiri at times) is a hill station in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, India, situated off the Vaniyambadi-Tirupattur road. Located at an altitude of 1,110.6 metres above Mean Sea Level and spread across 30 km, the Yelagiri village . 

Amirthi Zoological Waterfalls are situated in the premises of in Vellore near Yelagiri.Amirthi Zoological Park is situated under the Javadu hills of Tellai across Amirthi River. Established in 1967, the zoo park occupies an area of 25 hectares. It is named after the Amirthi River which flows next to the park. 

The place is enchanting to look at, owing to the natural beauty and clear water cascading from a height. The waterfalls can be reached through a trek of 1.5 kms. 

One km trek in the park leads to a full view of Amirthi falls, a small cascading seasonal falls. Visitors can play and swim in the pool formed by the falls here in monsoons. 

Amirthi Zoological Park is every animal lover’s delight. You would get to see several exotic species of birds and animals starting from hedgehogs, deer, a variety of monkeys and a range of reptiles. 

Amirthi Zoological Park  you would also get to see many endangered plant species and flowers.Many herbal and medicinal plants can be seen growing in the Park. A meditation hall and rest houses for stay are available at the Park premises. The Park is especially delightful for kids with children play area.

This zoological park has been recognized recently and so the state Government has taken initiative to develop it. 

Amirthi Zoological Park Timings : 8 AM to 5 PM (Closed on Tuesdays) 

Amirthi Zoological Park Entry fee : No fees 

Best time to visit Amirthi Zoological Park : from October to March is the best time to visit the park .
