Doddabetta Peak Ooty :
Doddabetta is the highest mountain in the
Nilgiri Hills, at 2637 metres (8650 feet). There is a reserved forest area
around the peak. It is 9 km from Ooty,on the Ooty-Kotagiri Road in the Nilgiris
District of Tamil Nadu, South India.

The term Doddabetta means Big
Mountain in Badaga language It is a combination of two words Dodda meaning big
and Betta which means mountain. which is so in reality

Telescope House at Doddabetta Peak:
It was opened in 18 June, 1983 and since then, the views of misty mountains, dense valleys and other peaks of this region have enthralled tourists who throng to this Telescope House to have a good view of the surroundings.
On top of Doddabetta Peak, there is a Telescope House, with two telescopes You can view sweeping panoramic views of the entire region through these two telescopes, and get close-up views of the surrounding areas.

Doddabetta Tea Factory :
The Tea Factory at the base of Doddabetta Peak is a factory and museum, where you can see how tea is made from tea leaves,Here you will find various machines processing tea leaves & eventually making the tea powder that we use today by you & me.
There are pictures & charts describing the discovery of tea, and various manufacturing processes involved in tea making.
A free cup of hot tea is offered to visitors after the visit to the tea factory, and you can even buy tea packets from the factor. In short, its worth visiting.

The pleasant weather of Ooty makes it favorable to visit all through the year, however, the best time to visit Doddabetta peak is from October to January. Early morning is the best time to visit this incredible viewpoint to avoid the crow.
