Nilgiri Tea Plantations, Masinagudi – ooty Nilgiris
Masanagudi Nilgiri Tea Plantations :
Masinagudi is rich in lush green tea plantation
and a number of them are located here. Nilgiri tea plantations are known to
produce the hot beverage throughout the year. The prime tea varieties of these
plantations are Black tea and Oolong, the aromas and flavors of which are
highly distinct from the rest of India. This is majorly due to the high
altitudes of Nilgiri tea plantations.
The region’s popular tea
estates Owing to the huge variety and abundance of tea in this part of India,
every year a Tea and Tourism festival is organized here by the Government
authorities.
NILGIRI REGION TEAS :
The British established the
first tea plantation here in 1845. After encountering the heat of the plains,
the attraction of the cooler highlands where the tea is grown is
understandable. The region grew to become a major producer with several hundred
tea estates. After India’s independence, the Nilgiris became a volume producer
of CTC (cut-tear-curl) teas rather than a source of quality, Orthodox teas.
This trend predominates today; however, we do offer a number of Orthodox teas
from the region.
In the cold weather in the
Nilgiris, teas grow more slowly, which concentrates the tea’s aromatic
compounds. The cooler temperatures also allow the factories to wither and
oxidize the teas more slowly as well, further developing the aromatic compounds
to draw out their attractive fruit, floral and spice notes.
You can visit tea plantation and take a lazy stroll amidst fields that are enveloped in the aroma of tea. You will also get to learn and explore the workings of how tea is produced. This would definitely be a fun and enriching experience.
